The York Hospital Emergency Department will implement a new visitors’ policy on Wednesday, June 6, with the opening of the renovated Emergency Department triage and seating area.
WellSpan is committed to providing exceptional care for the more than 77,0000 patients it treats in the Emergency Department every year. The new policy maximizes patient privacy and care; promotes a safe and controlled environment for patients, visitors and staff; and better manages visitor traffic.
Major features of the new visitation policy include:
- All Emergency Department patients will be allowed up to two visitors at the bedside under normal circumstances.
- All visitors will be required to provide a form of ID in order to obtain a visitor badge. Visitor badges will be required to visit a patient in the Emergency Department treatment areas. Any visitor without a badge will be escorted out of the treatment areas.
- Visitors will be escorted to the bedside after the primary care team sees the patient and indicates visitor presence is appropriate.
- Children under age 12 will not be permitted into the Emergency Department treatment areas. For children arriving with an adult patient, the family is required to make arrangements for child care.
