WellSpan Health is increasing access to care in York County with two new WellSpan Urgent Care locations and a WellSpan Family Medicine practice – all set to open later this year.
A new WellSpan Urgent Care is planned to open at 4050 N. George St. Ext. in the Manchester area in late summer. In September, WellSpan will open an urgent care center at 2149 S. Queen St. in York, just off Exit 16 of Interstate 83 at the former South York Diner.
Also in September, WellSpan Family Medicine will open at 3193 Cape Horn Road in Red Lion.
“WellSpan has its deepest roots in York County, and expanding services for our neighbors will always be a priority,” said Thomas McGann, M.D., executive vice president for clinical practice, WellSpan Health. “Whether building a relationship with a family doctor or squeezing in an urgent care visit for your child’s poison ivy, we offer the options you need for the care you need.”
The WellSpan Family Medicine practice on Cape Horn Road will offer a full range of primary care services for patients of all ages, including preventative care, annual physical exams, women’s healthcare, treatment of short-term illness, flu shots and immunizations. The practice will be accepting new patients.
The South York and Manchester area urgent care centers will be the fifth and sixth WellSpan Urgent Care locations in York County, making a total of nine across southcentral Pennsylvania. Other locations include: West York, East Market Street in York, Hanover, Shrewsbury, Gettysburg, Ephrata and Lititz.
WellSpan Health acquired the Manchester area and Red Lion locations from ExpressCare Urgent Care Centers. These locations closed earlier this spring.
Urgent care patients can take advantage of an online service called “Reserve My Spot,” which allows them to choose a time slot that suits their schedule. This can be done via smartphones, computer, tablets or at an in-person check-in kiosk at the office.
“We have parents who reserve their spot before even leaving their house,” said Creston Tate, D.O., WellSpan medical director of urgent care. “We know there are only so many hours in the day. Having a nearby WellSpan Urgent Care center means you don’t have choose between tight schedules and your health.”
All WellSpan Urgent Care locations are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week, caring for patients age 3 months and older suffering from coughs and minor illnesses to strains and possible bone fractures. All WellSpan Urgent Care centers offer X-ray services.
