The Waiting Room
Healthy Adams County and its partners on the Wellness Arts Committee invite the community to attend a free screening of The Waiting Room. The film’s screening will take place 7 p.m., Monday, May 19, at Gettysburg’s Majestic Theater. A panel discussion with area health care providers will take place immediately after the film.

The Waiting Room is a documentary that takes viewers behind the doors of an American public hospital that is struggling to care for a community of largely uninsured patients. The film offers a look at how patients and caregivers cope with disease, bureaucracy and difficult choices.

Panelists who will discuss the film are: Jenny Englerth, executive director, Family First Health; Eugene McElwee, DO, medical director, WellSpan ReadyCare; Lawrence Goldhahn, MD, medical director, forensic examiner team at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital; and Adam Wasserman, MD, Gettysburg Family Practice. Jane Hyde, senior vice president, WellSpan Health, and president, WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital, will serve as the panel’s moderator.

The panelists will share information regarding where people can access needed medical care in the local community regardless of income or insurance status and when one should go to a hospital emergency department for care.

Tickets for the film screening are free but must be reserved by calling the Majestic Theater box office at (717) 337-8200.
